September 1st is move-in day for most of the renters in Boston, usually not by choice but by requirement. It is the most chaotic weekend with moving trucks, bodies and their belongings everywhere. If you've ever lived in Boston, you would understand why September 1st weekend is THE weekend to leave the city.
We took this opportunity to visit Acadia National Park in Winter Harbor, Maine, which is about 5 hours north of Boston. Here are some recommended activities.
Go on a SEE-FOOD (seafood) diet for the weekend
It's usually caught in the morning to be sold in the afternoon through early evening. Soft shell lobsters can be found for about $3/pound. I recommend Bob's. It's a bit hard to find so here's the address and phone #. Give him a ring and ask him what he has available that day. If you can't find Bob's, you're bound to see many shacks selling fresh seafood along the highway. We had lobsters every day.

Acadia National Park.
It's a stunning park off the coast of Maine. The park stretches from Acadia to Bar Harbour to Schoodic Point. Anywhere you want to set camp has its own spectacular views. There is an entrance fee ranging from $10-20 per car depending on when you go. Since we had dogs with us, we decided to do an easy 525 ft. hike up Gorham Mountain. Although not a strenuous hike, its coastal location provides a fantastic view. Other activities at the park include swimming, biking, fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, etc.
Stargazing
With barely any lights at night in this area, you can see millions of stars lighting up the sky. Pack some blankets, hot chocolate and head up to the Schoodic Point peninsula.
Enjoy the outdoors!!
